How to Make Instant Snow From Boiling Water
How to Make Instant Snow From Boiling Water You probably know that you can make snow using a pressure washer. But did you know that you can also make snow from boiling water?à Snow, after all, is literally precipitation that falls as frozen water, and boiling water is water that is on the verge of becoming water vapor. Its incredibly easy to make instant snow from boiling water. All you have to do is follow the steps below. Materials You only need two things to turn boiling water into snow: Freshly boiled waterReally cold outdoor temperatures, around -30 degrees Fahrenheit The Snow-Making Process Simply boil the water, go outside andà brave the frigid temperatures, and toss a cupful or pot of boiling water into the air. Its important that the water be as close to boiling and the outside air be as cold as possible. The effect is less spectacular or wont work if the water temperature drops below 200 degrees Fahrenheit or if the air temperature climbs above -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Be safe and protect your hands from splashes. Also, dont throw the water at people. If it is sufficiently cold, there shouldnt be a problem, but if your concept of the temperature is mistaken, you could end up causing a dangerous accident. Always be careful when handling boiling water. How It Works Boiling water is water that is at the point of changing from a liquid into water vapor. Boiling water has the same vapor pressure as the air around it, so it has plenty of surface area toà expose to a freezing temperature. The large surface area means its much easier to freeze the water than if it were a liquid ball. This is why it is easier to freeze a thin layer of water than a thickà sheet of water. Its also the reason youd freeze to death more slowly curled up into a ball than if you were to lie spread eagle in the snow. What to Expect If you want to see boiling water turn into snow before you attempt this experiment, you can view a demonstration on the Weather Channel. The video shows a person holding a pot of boiling water and then tossing the scalding liquid into the air. An instant later youll see a cloud of snow crystals falling to the ground. I could watch this all day, the announcer says as she introduces the video, which was shot atà Mount Washington, New Hampshire, the highest mountain in New England. The announcer notes before the video begins that the snow-making folks actually performed the experiment three times- once with a measuring cup, once with a mug, and once with a pot (which is the effort captured in the video). Ideal Conditions In the demonstration video, the temperature of the water was 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and the temperature outside was a frosty -34.8 degrees. The experimenters said that they had diminished success when the water temperature dropped below 200 degrees and when the outside temperature rose above -25 degrees. Of course, if you dont want to go through all of this, and you still want to make snow- or if the temperature outsideà is just too warm- you canà makeà fake snowà using a common polymer while staying warm and toasty indoors.

Grammer Edititing and rephrasing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Grammer Edititing and rephrasing - Essay Example Spreading the news will make consumers consider the issue of Coltan mineral and associated conflicts in Congo, thus enabling Congo citizens to benefit from the proceeds of their mineral rich country. Max Fisher the author of the article ââ¬Å"Theres a 1 in 12 Chance Your V-Day Flowers Were Cut by Child Laborersâ⬠asserts that free trade and compliance with labor standards will solve the prevailing problems in both Ecuador and Colombia flower industries. The author is of the opinion that flower workers have suffered from poor working conditions such as mistreatment, healthy risks and low wages. In addition, the flower industries in the two countries have violated human and labor rights through engaging in child labor and sexual harassment in the workplace. According to the author, the consumers will influence the labor rights through backgrounds checks before the purchase in order to determine whether they are free trade flowers. The consumers will need to refrain from purchasing flowers from the companies that have been accused of labor rights violations in order to pressurize those companies to adhere with the acceptable labor rights and standards. Both Max Fisher and Andy Robertson have utilized Aristotelian approach in their articles in enabling the reader to understand the problems faced by the workers in the different countries. Fisher uses pathos in his persuasion by claiming that flower industries have a long record of abusing the workers and innocent purchase of flowers might continue supporting such labor rights violation (Fisher 1). The intention of Fisher is to elicit a strong emotional appeal and response from the readers through inspiring the consumers to avoid purchasing specific flowers such as roses from those flower plantations and industries that violate labor rights. Fisher uses a logo to inspire logical

Construction Contracts Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Construction Contracts - Essay Example One very important change is that the nomination for sub-contractors has been discarded. This will mean that the whole project will be the sole responsibility of the contractor. Hence, it will not matter if certain segments of the undertaking are passed on to other outside parties or agencies. Also, there will be minimal arguments to expect in the interpretation of the contract because the new JCT2005 is written in plain simple English and the major parts are segregated from one another in sections. Actually, the vital components and characteristics of the contents are retained except that the presentation has become less complicated or complex. Furthermore, certain terminologies have to be renamed to suit the real spirit intended by the parties. If there is a mutual agreement to have an overseer for the works, the title is now called Architect/Contract Administrator instead of just an Architect. Extension of Time is now termed Adjustment to the Completion Date. In case of a decision to suspend payment, the notice of withholding can only be done by the employer or the client. It can no longer be a part of the job of the Architect/Contract Administrator. ...In case of dispute, the covenanted remedy is now litigation instead of arbitration. As a matter of course, however, the parties are still free to resort to arbitration if they opt to thresh out their differences through the more expedient and convenient alternative method of patching up things. Still, there is a provision recommending for mediation in case of controversies. In the event that one party becomes insolvent, the other has to serve the appropriate notice of termination. Electronic mailing is now allowed as a medium of service of notices and other items for correspondence. The provision for the employer's own design team is still the same in JCT2005. However, a design option for the contractor is also provided for. On insurance pre-requisites, the contractor has become obliged to put up a profession al indemnity insurance, an agreement feature not included in the 1998 version. The right of the employer to liquidated damages reduction is set forth in the adjustment of the time for completion while the terms for relevant events are made more burdensome to the contractor who is to shoulder consequential costs brought about by materials and labour shortages resultant of industrial unrests like strikes. In such cases and similar instances, the Architect/Contract Administrator is under obligation to explain any adjustment to the completion date. In order to eradicate confusions regarding notices in the payment aspect of the covenant, the contractor under JCT2005 has the right to be paid according to the sum due considering the progress of performance even if he stated another amount in his application to collect and the employer withholds a certain portion.Ã

Home Brewing for the Beginner Essay Example for Free
Home Brewing for the Beginner Essay Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the process of Brewing Beer at Home Central Idea: Millions of people drink beer everyday but are oblivious to the brewing process and the ease of making their own. Introduction: Knowledge is Power, Availability, Style, Main Points Main Points: I. Preparation II. Brewing III. Fermentation and Bottling Conclusion: Main Points, Taste Preference, Advanced Techniques (Cheap) An introduction to the Home Brewing process. Today I will be informing you about the fascinating process of brewing beer that millions of individuals enjoy as a hobby as well as a profession all over the world. Brewing beer has become big business for companies like Anheuser Busch and Yuengling. The days of prohibition are over and knowledge is power so being informed is the first step to beginning any hobby. Aside from rare common problems that all brewers experience, this hobby is completely legal, inexpensive, simple, and tastes great! 5 Gallon batches typically range between 20 and 25 dollars, so itââ¬â¢s light on the wallet. As your skills develop, you can create recipes which will produce beers custom designed to your particular tastes and preferences. The main points I will be covering are preparation, brewing, and lastly Fermentation and bottling. Preparation is key to brewing since this will be the phase that determines the quality and clarity of the beer that you brew. In this phase you will be selecting the ingredients, assembling and sanitizing the equipment. When picking out ingredients you can get all the assistance you need from a local brew shop, online, and books such as clone brew that have detailed recipes and instructions to make your favorite beer. Only 4 ingredients are required to make beer ; malted barley (grains), hops, yeast, and water. At this stage in the process, all the equipment you need is a brew pot, fermenting bucket, airlock, and a long-handed spoon. Itââ¬â¢s extremely necessary to sanitize all you equipment with an acid based cleaner at this point to prevent contamination. Once youââ¬â¢ve completed your preparation itââ¬â¢s time to start the boil of the ingredients. Almost all home brew recipe s make 5 gallons of beer but you will only have to boil 2.5. The remaining amount of fresh water gets added later. Your specific recipe will tell you how long to steep your grains or how much malt extract to use. The boil usually takes an hour to complete and the hops are usually added towards the end of the boil. After you have boiled your ingredients you now have what is called wort. The first thing you have to do after the boil is set the brewpot containing the wort in a sink or cooler filled with ice. You want the wort cooled down to 70 degrees Fahrenheit as soon as you can. Chilling the wort rapidly is beneficial because it reduces risk of contamination, improve clarity, and so the yeast can start the next phase once it is added. A wort chiller is a copper coil that was designed to help with this task specifically. After the wort has been chilled below 70 degrees it is time to move the beer into a fermentation bucket adapted with a top that features an airlock. Enough fresh water is then added to the wort so that the specific gravity matches the initial gravity value your recipe calls for. Sprinkle the yeast packet on the top and seal the lid on top of the fermenter. Thatââ¬â¢s it! Over the next 24 hours your wort should begin the fermentation process and over the course of the next week it will ferment. Fermentation will be apparent when the airlock is bubbling. After the fermentation is complete, it is time to bottle the brew. A local brew shop can help you with the supplies needed for this and the procedure to ensure carbonation takes place over the next 3-4 weeks. After the waiting period is over its ready to drink! Today I informed you on the preparation, brewing, and the fermentation of making beer. Making beer is a truly rewarding and exciting hobby! Most people who drink beer havent got the chance to try the many styles that beer has to offer. If you are serious about brewing I would suggest going to a local specialty store and trying out some stouts, pale ales, and porters. You may be surprised to find one that hits the pallet just right. Taking your bottles to club meetings, entering them in competitions, and asking your local homebrew retailer to taste and comment are all good ways to have your beers evaluated. Happy Brewing!

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Essay -- essays research papers
ââ¬Å"If you owe your bank a hundred pounds, you have a problem; but if you owe it a million, it has.(1)â⬠In the year of 1327, Kind Edward III of England defaulted on his Italian debts. This caused the banks of Bardi and Peruzzi in Florence to collapse. Who would know that over 650 years later, the world would still have these types of problems? After World War II, the need for an organization like the IMF was finally realized. After the war, politicians and economists began to work on blue prints for a postwar world. They envisioned a liberal international economic order, based on stable world currencies and revived world trade. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) finally came into existence on December 27, 1945. On this date, twenty-nine countries signed its charter when meeting at Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. On March 1, 1947 the IMF came into financial operations. The IMF was established to promote internal monetary cooperation through a permanent institution, which provides the machinery for consultation and collaboration on international monetary problems. Also, it provides temporary financial assistance to countries under adequate safeguards to help ease balance of payments adjustments. In addition, it facilitates the expansion and balanced growth of internal trade. Many critics and even followers of the IMF do not even know what the IMF really is. It is not a development or even a central bank. It is a credit union. It pays interests on deposits it receives from member nations. The IMF lends money to members having trouble meeting financial obligations to other members, but only the condition that they undertake economics reforms to eliminate these difficulties for their own good and that of the entire membership. Some people believe that if the IMF tells a country to do something, they must do it. This statement is false. The IMF has no authority over the domestic economic policies of its members. The IMF is a cooperative institution that 182 countries voluntarily joined because they see the advantage of consulting with one another to maintain a stable system of buying and selling their currencies. All 182 members of the IMF contribute to a pool of funds that the agency then taps to aid troubled countries. The IMF currently has around 200 billion dollars. The U.S., Germany, Japan, Britain, France, and Saudi Arabia make up over 35 percent of thi... ... sums of money that could be spent on education to debt repayment. Structural adjustment makes the problem worse, as the IMF demand government spending cuts and privatization measures in education. What money remains for education goes to primary schools, with education beyond elementary levels shifting to a fee-for-service basis. In Mexico, the Bank advised the government to abolish constitutionally guaranteed free education at the national university, provoking a lengthy student strike. The rich get an education. The poor get sweatshop jobs. So, what do I think? Well, the IMF is a good program. It has worked in the past and it will continue to work in the future. It has proven that is has the necessary elements to be a successful worldwide organization. However, small adjustments do need to be made, as no organization is perfect. The IMF regularly talks about how it is doing things for the future, and not the present. I feel that the IMF should start fixing some of the current problems. This will give those countries confidence in the fund. Theyââ¬â¢ll feel that they can trust the IMF. In conclusion, the IMF is an organization that can help the world, just with small adjustments.

Australian Economic Indicators
The Australian economy has grown by less than one percent, considering that GDP growth in 2003 was 3.1 percent and 3.9 in 2007. The 2007 growth was the highest in the period, whereas the lowest growth rate of 2.7 was experienced in 2007.Relationship between VariablesReal GDP growth is countercyclical with inflation. As it can be seen on the graph, GDP was rising when inflation rate was declining and vice versa. This is inline with economic understanding that lower rates of inflation are good for economic growth.ABS and policy makers should therefore embark on policies that suppressed inflation in favor of economic growth. Unemployment rate has been falling throughout the period and are now at historic lows. This decrease is most likely caused by the steadily rising economic growth and the well contained inflation. How ABS Measures Inflation and UnemploymentInflation is measured by collecting market (prices) data for different goods, services and financial instruments. The data is coll ected on a daily basis and compounded monthly, quarterly, and on annual basis. The three kinds of inflation measured by ABS include:Consumer Price Inflation: This index is used to measure changes in market prices for goods and services used by consumers. These includes thing like food, clothing, housing, transportation, communication, financial services, and education among others.Producer Price Index: This is used to track market prices for goods and services used in industrial production processes. Production inputs are measured in three levels: preliminary intermediate and final stage (ABS 2008).Labor Price Index: The measure in meant to track hourly wage rates and bonus that employers have to remunerate employees.ABS measures unemployment by collecting data on several aspects of Australian labor force. The bank regularly collects data on the number of new hires and the number of those who loose their positions. This data is collected from all regions and industries. At the end, it becomes possible to understand unemployment rates and trends between regions, industries and age groups among other comparisons.
